San Miguel Arcángel Humanist School: A Chance to Dream

Introduction

Suncho Corral, a growing city in the Argentine province of Santiago del Estero, has seen rapid population growth fueled by agricultural opportunities and migration from neighboring towns. While the community is expanding, many families face deep socioeconomic challenges that limit access to quality education for their children.

The San Miguel Arcángel Humanist High School was founded in 2009 to respond to this urgent need for education. What began with just two kindergarten classes and a first grade in rented rooms has grown, thanks to volunteers and community support, into a full institution offering education from preschool through secondary school. To date, the school has proudly graduated four classes of students, becoming a pillar of hope and opportunity in Suncho Corral.

The Challenge

Many families in the region live below the poverty line. Household instability, such as separated parents, blended families, and single-parent households, compounds the difficulties children face. While public administration offers some jobs locally, many parents must migrate for work, leaving children with limited stability and fewer opportunities.

The Project

With Defi For Good’s support, the project launched in 2024, to ensure that twelve students from the most vulnerable families can continue their education. By covering their school tuition for an entire year, we are breaking down financial barriers and giving these children the tools to build a brighter future.

Beneficiaries

The direct beneficiaries are students from impoverished households in Suncho Corral. Their parents are deeply committed to their education, seeing it as the pathway to escape poverty and create new opportunities for the next generation.

Why This Matters

Education is one of the most powerful tools to transform lives and communities. By supporting these students, Defi For Good is helping break cycles of poverty and strengthening Suncho Corral’s social fabric, ensuring that hope, opportunity, and human potential are nurtured where it is needed most.
