San Miguel Arcángel Humanist School: Computer/IT Lab

Suncho Corral, a growing city in the Argentine province of Santiago del Estero, has seen rapid population growth fueled by agricultural opportunities and migration from neighboring towns. While the community is expanding, many families face deep socioeconomic challenges that limit access to quality education for their children.
The San Miguel Arcángel Humanist High School was founded in 2009 to respond to this urgent need for education. What began with just two kindergarten classes and a first grade in rented rooms has grown, thanks to volunteers and community support, into a full institution offering education from preschool through secondary school. To date, the school has proudly graduated four classes of students, becoming a pillar of hope and opportunity in Suncho Corral.
Many families in the region live below the poverty line. Household instability, such as separated parents, blended families, and single-parent households, compounds the difficulties children face. While public administration offers some jobs locally, many parents must migrate for work, leaving children with limited stability and fewer opportunities.

With the support of Defi For Good, we aim to establish the first-ever Computer and IT Learning Center at San Michel Archangel School, a school that currently has no computers, no digital resources, and no IT curriculum whatsoever.
This new lab will open a world of opportunity for the school’s 330 students, giving them access to essential 21st-century skills such as digital literacy, coding, online research, and problem-solving. It will allow teachers to integrate modern tools into their lessons and prepare students for higher education and future employment in a rapidly digitizing world.
Beyond serving the students, the lab will also be a community hub, offering free or low-cost digital literacy workshops for adults and parents. This will foster inclusion, strengthen community ties, and empower residents to connect, learn, and grow together.

The direct beneficiaries are 330 students from the school, their families, and the community at large, who will also benefit from this new initiative.
Access to technology is no longer a privilege, it’s a necessity. For the students of San Michel Archangel School, who have never had a computer, the new IT Lab will be their gateway to learning, creativity, and opportunity. It will equip them with essential digital skills, helping them compete on equal footing with peers from more developed areas.
Beyond the classroom, the lab will serve as a community resource, empowering parents and residents with digital literacy, improving access to jobs, education, and public services. By bridging the digital divide, this project will not only transform how students learn but also how the entire community connects, grows, and thrives in the modern world.
