Oscar’s journey is one of resilience nurtured by compassion. Found wandering alone as a young child in the vast Chaco jungle, no one knew his name, his age, or where he had come from. What was clear, however, was his urgent need for care. Living with severe epilepsy, Oscar depends on precise, uninterrupted medication to prevent potentially life-threatening seizures. Before arriving at the Saint Martin of Tours House of Mercy, such consistency was impossible. Poverty, isolation, and the absence of family support placed him at constant risk. At the House of Mercy, Oscar finally found what he had never known before: stability, proper medical attention, and a community that sees him as family.

Today, thanks to the project providing guaranteed access to medication, Oscar’s condition is safely managed, allowing him to live with dignity and ease. His daily life is filled with routine, care, and gentle encouragement from the staff who monitor his health and support his emotional well-being. He participates in activities suited to his abilities, enjoys shared meals, and moves through each day without the fear of sudden seizures. Oscar’s story reflects the mission of the House of Mercy: to offer not only shelter and medical support, but an environment where vulnerable individuals can grow, heal, and simply live as they deserve. His life is a reminder that with consistent care and compassion, even the most fragile beginnings can lead to a story of safety and hope.
